THE PROBLEM
As a financial company, OneMain Financial (OMF) is looking to help individuals who are in the need of a small loan with a reasonable monthly interest charge. OMF wanted it to be more relatable to their current customer base.

Many of these users will obtain a loan, pay it, and never return. This represented a loss on the company's end. The company needed to create new products and offers that would allow them to retain their customers and have them buy-in into new products.

DISCOVERY RESEARCH
Through research conducted on their current customers and target audience, OMF discovered that they needed to improve their communications and offering through their current app. Their customers wanted to see more options and a way to obtain information about their credit history and future savings.

MY ROLE
As a lead UX designer, I was assigned, together with my writing partner, to bring to life a series of products designed to call the attention of the current users. They asked us to showcase how easy it was to bundle different loans into one, with the incentive of a low monthly interest payment attached.

The company would also offer access to their customer’s credit scores and a helpful budget map that would allow them to monitor their financial performance month-by-month.

Having the user buy-in into new products would be a challenge, but with the strategized placement of incentives, month-by-month the user would be invited to join into new offers and products to improve their financial life.

WORKING DIRECTION
To start, the tool would be added to their OMF’s current app. I designed the architecture of the app to be simple to follow, giving access to certain tools before you buy into new products, and then complete access after you buy-in.

With an easy top global nav, the user would be able to access all the screens without an issue. In the financial dashboard, the user can see all their loans and they can make payments as well.

Other screens like the budget map, where the users can see all their connected accounts, and how they are spending their money added to the package. A tune-up screen where new offerings take place and a product bundle option is also available for the user to take advantage of.

Financial news, access to their monthly statement, their profile screen, and a help section with a live representative. This last one would be equipped with a voice message feature, in case the user is unable to type.

This app was created with standards of accessibility in mind, as OMF wanted to serve all parts of the community.
